Solid fourth quarter does it for Benet
Benet outscored Oswego 19-5 in the fourth quarter and won the nonconference game 40-34 playing in their Alumni Gym.
Benet (14-3) got a huge boost from junior center Frank Kaminsky, who scored all 9 of his points in the fourth quarter. The Redwings - who made 11 of 21 free throws to Oswego's 5 of 9 - were led in scoring by junior guards Matt Parisi with 15 points and Dave Sobolewski with 12.
St. Francis 61, Immaculate Conception 56: In a Suburban Christian Conference crossover in Wheaton, sophomore forward Ryan Coyle scored 21 points in his first action since injuring his thumb nearly a month ago. St. Francis (6-9) received 12 points apiece by Mark Schmitt and Joe Pfeiffer, 10 from Tony Vargyas. IC (10-9) was led by Michael Randick and Demetrius Mobley with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Neuqua Valley 74, Normal 44: Neuqua Valley (15-1) enjoyed consecutive romps at the Rockton Hononegah King Classic. Dwayne Evans scored 16 points, Rahjan Muhammad 12 and Jim Stocki 10 against Normal. Evans' 18 points paced Neuqua's 81-48 win over Sterling earlier in the day.
Naperville North 62, Rich East 49: Joe McNicholas scored 15 points in the Huskies' nonconference win at home. Matt LaCosse added 12 points and Matt Hasse and James O'Shaughnessy each scored 10 for Naperville North (12-4).
