Paul D. Pierotti Memorial Scholarship: The Paul D. Pierotti Memorial Scholarship fund was established in 2006 by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County President D. "Dewey" Pierotti Jr. and his wife, Leslie, in memory of their late son Paul.
This scholarship is designed for students from DuPage, Kane, Kendall or Will counties pursuing college majors and careers in the environmental fields. Applicants wishing to be considered for this scholarship must be a volunteer or associated with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County or The Conservation Foundation, possess a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average, provide details of their academic achievement and an outline of their participation in extracurricular activities, and write a 350-word essay on an environmental topic determined annually by the selection committee.

Conservation Foundation: The Conservation Foundation's Environmental Scholarship Fund was established in 2007.
Applicants must have demonstrated a strong commitment to the preservation of the environment through their work-related, volunteer or other community activities. A paid summer internship may be available for the winner of this scholarship at the Kendall County Forest Preserve.
This scholarship was established by Ron Yenerich, a member of The Conservation Foundation's Advisory Council.
This scholarship is available to students residing in The Conservation Foundation's service area of DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties who are or will be upper classmen attending an accredited two-year college, or a four-year accredited college or university.

Historic Administration Scholarship Fund: Garfield Farm Museum has announced the third annual $2,000 scholarship for graduate studies in museum administration. Applications must be made in January 2010.
This annual scholarship is focused on students at the master's level or higher, pursuing degrees in historic administration, public history, museum administration or related fields of study who preferably have demonstrated a strong commitment to the preservation of historic sites through their studies, work experience, volunteer or other activities.
Potential applicants from the southern half of Kane and Kendall counties enrolled at an accredited college or university are encouraged to inquire of the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley by calling (630) 896-7800 or visit www.CommunityFoundationFRV.org.
Outstanding candidates who live in proximity to the Fox Valley in Will, DuPage or northern Kane County, also will be given due consideration. The successful candidate also will be given special consideration if she or he later applies for Garfield Farm Museum's Graduate Student Internship Program.
Yenerich, a friend and donor to Garfield Farm Museum, is underwriting the scholarship. The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley handles all the administration of the scholarship funds and applications. MCCD: With the financial support of Smith Engineering Consultants Inc., McHenry County Conservation District is accepting applications for a $500 scholarship to be awarded to a college or university undergraduate student in a field of conservation studies.
Applicants must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program in the area of conservation. This includes, but is not limited to, biology, parks and recreation, forestry, environmental education, environmental design or landscape architecture.
Those interested should send a 500-word essay explaining their goals of contribution to conservation, postmarked by Friday, Jan. 22. The scholarship winner will be announced Thursday, Feb. 18, at the board of trustees meeting.

Odd Fellow Lodge: Noble Grand Jim Turner of the Odd Fellow Elgin Lodge 12 and Judy Wilson of Samaritan Rebekah Lodge 120 recently announced that the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, one of the world's oldest fraternal organizations, has funds available for several scholarship awards during the 2010-11 school year for students who are residents of Illinois and citizens of the United States.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need and scholastic ability. Students with a grade-point average of "C" or above and planning to attend an accredited college or trade school will be considered. Students interested may obtain a scholarship application by visiting www.ioof-il.org.

Hansen-Furnas Foundation: The Hansen-Furnas Foundation Inc., a nonprofit, charitable organization, has scholarship applications for the 2010-11 school year available. The application deadline for college and university undergraduate scholarships is March 1 of each year.
Criteria for granting scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need and academic scholarship. Character references, the quality of the applicant's letter of intent and work experience are also considered to ensure successful selections. The general undergraduate scholarships offer payment toward tuition and fees. The William Carlyle Furnas scholarship, Leto M. Furnas scholarship and Robert Buckner scholarship are granted to one individual each year. All applicants must be U.S. citizens and students must reapply each year.
The Hansen-Furnas Foundation Inc. General Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded to individuals planning to enroll, or enrolled, as undergraduate students. These awards offer a maximum of $3,000 per year.
The William Carlyle Furnas Undergraduate Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship, is awarded to a student planning to enroll, or enrolled, at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.
The Robert Buckner Scholarship for African-American Students is awarded to a graduate of Batavia High School. This award is a maximum of $5,000.
The Leto M. Furnas Graduate Scholarship for Women is awarded to a woman planning to enroll, or currently enrolled in, a postgraduate degree. This tuition award is a maximum of $5,000 per grant.
