Five-Bean Chili

1 large onion, choppedOlive oil2 tablespoons black-strap molasses2 pounds bottom round or sirloin tip, cubed1 tablespoon cumin1 tablespoon paprika1 tablespoon cayenne pepper#189; teaspoon black pepper1 can (28 ounces) whole tomatoes (cut in half)1 can (28 ounces) tomato sauce1 can (15 ounces) black beans1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans1 can (15 ounces) butter beans1 can (15 ounces) black-eyed peas1 can (15 ounces) garbanzo beansIn frying pan saute the onions in thin layer of hot olive oil. Add molasses and set aside. In a stock pot brown the beef in a little oil; add back onion mixture and remaining ingredients. Stir together and simmer about 90 minutes.Serves 10 to 12.
