Crystal Lake steps up DUI stops:

The Crystal Lake Police Department will be cracking down on impaired drivers as part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's Christmas/New Year's impaired driver enforcement program. Extra patrols will be in place to detect impaired drivers, get them off the road and prevent them from putting their lives and the lives of others at risk. The police department also encourages drivers with cell phones to report erratic driving to police, and have partnered with the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists "Drunkbusters" program. The program gives $100 to tipsters whose calls lead to DUI arrests.
