Friday's Fox Valley roundup

Crystal Lake South 45, Grayslake North 32: The Gators (6-7) came out strong in the second half to put the Knights away as they picked up a victory in the first day of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic. Michelle Gaede and Katie Burton led the Gators offensively turning in a double-digit performances with 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Woodstock 66, Burlington Central 60 (OT): The Rockets (6-4) fell just short in opening round action of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic as they were able to tie the game at 60-60 in the fourth quarter before eventually falling in overtime. Brenda Thasavong (19 points), Taylor Colby (16 points), Jordan Maisto (11 points), and Ali Settanni (10 points) all turned in double-digit scoring performaces for the Rockets.

Neuqua Valley 56, Streamwood 44: The Sabres (3-6, 1-2) suffered a tough Upstate Eight Conference loss on the road to Neuqua Valley. Emma Schmidt scored a game-high 21 points while Melissa Oehlerking added 10 points.

St Charles North 52, Elgin 24: The Maroons (1-10, 1-2) were outscored 24-3 in the first quarter and could never mount a comeback as they were defeated in Upstate Eight Conference play. Brandi Hernandez was the only Maroon to reach double-digits with 10 points.

Walther Lutheran 50, Westminster Christian 36: Rachel Doby turned in a double-double for the Warriors (3-6) with 11 points and 15 rebounds, but Westminster Chrsitan was defeated by Walther Lutheran. Sarah Rodgers also added 11 points for the Warriors.

Waubonsie Valley 88, Larkin 14: The Royals (0-9, 0-3) continued to struggle as they were downed by Waubonsie Valley in Upstate Eight Conference action. Abigail Alvarez led the Royals with 7 points.
