Winter concerts abound Tuesday

Palatine, Schaumburg, Conant and Fremd high schools all have holiday or winter concerts planned for the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 15.

Palatine High Director of Bands Raeleen Horn will lead the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensembles in their annual holiday concert, "Holiday Magic," at 7:30 p.m. in the school's Altergott Auditorium, 1111 N. Rohlwing Road. Admission is $1 for adults and students.

Fremd High's annual Winter Band Concert takes place at 7 p.m. in the school's Kolze Auditorium, 1000 S. Quentin Road in Palatine. All 300-plus students in the band program will perform a wide variety of band music and styles, as well as a several holiday favorites.

Conant High's annual Holiday Choral Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the school's auditorium, 700 E. Cougar Trail in Hoffman Estates. All student ensembles will perform holiday music selections from carious parts of the world, along with some familiar holiday tunes set to new arrangements. The finale includes holiday carols, with audience participation. There is no charge for admission.

Schaumburg High has two separate holiday concerts in December, featuring music of the season as well as works by Holst, Ticheli, King, and Reed. Both concerts will be in the school's Weimer Auditorium, 1100 W. Schaumburg Road, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, the Concert Band and Symphonic Band perform. On Wednesday, Dec. 16, the Wind Symphony, Cadet Band and Trumpet Ensemble will be featured.

Before both concerts at 7 p.m., the tubas and euphoniums will perform carols in the auditorium foyer. There is no charge for admission to either concert.
