Huntley passes 2009 levy:
Huntley passed its 2009 property tax levy this week. The village will request $3,665,000 next year, a 5 percent increase over the amount the village estimates it will collect this year, $3,489,390. However, village officials only expect Huntley's tax haul to rise by 3.45 percent next year, most of that driven by new construction, including the Walmart Supercenter that opened earlier this year. The law limits Huntley's increases to the lesser of 5 percent or the rate of inflation. The village expects the tax rate to drop from .4138 per $100 of equalized assessed value to .4095 next year.
