Neubert drama club to stage Dickens' classic
Students from Neubert Elementary School in Algonquin will put on "A Christmas Carol" at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Carpentersville Middle School auditorium, 100 Cleveland Ave.
The fourth- and fifth-graders enrolled in the drama club are rehearsing for the show. Thirty-nine Neubert students make up a cast of characters, singers, and dancers all diligently rehearsing for their big debut.
But their hard work is not just for their 10 minutes of fame on stage. These students are working toward a much bigger goal. Admission ticket proceeds will be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois. The Neubert Drama Club hopes to raise $5,000 to fully fund a child's wish which, in the end, would make these their own wishes come true as well.
Ticket prices are flexible. Neubert asks that purchasers contribute a minimum of $4 per ticket or as high as they can afford for this great cause. The top two donors per show will be thanked with reserved seats. Ticket sales will first go toward funding expenses the production has incurred, then every other penny will go toward the $5,000 goal.
To reserve seats, contact Kristen Gregory, Neubert's drama club teacher, at (847) 532-6851 or e-mail kristen.gregory@d300.org.
