O'Neill keys Maine West
It wasn't her career high, but Megan O'Neill sure was busy tossing the basketball through the hoop Tuesday night in the Maine West gymnasium.
The Warriors senior forward scored a season-high 29 points to help lead her team to a 60-50 victory over visiting Deerfield and a 2-0 record in the Central Suburban North.
O'Neill also pulled down 13 rebounds while front line classmate Ellen Coogan pulled down 7.
Senior guard Sam Acosta had the game's only 3-pointer and scored 12 points for West, which trailed 22-20 at the break.
The Warriors (4-5) scored 20 points in each of the last two quarters,"
"The difference in the second half was the play of Amanda Hoye (sophomore point guard)," said Warriors coach Derril Kipp. "She had solid play handling the ball and hit three big shots for us. It was probably the best half she has had as a varsity basketball player."
Senior Alli Ellwood handed out 6 assists while Acosta had 3 steals.
O'Neill was 4 points shy of her career-high of 33 points set against Schaumburg last winter in the Sweet Sixteen Tournament.

Glenbard East 42, Conant 32: Senior Ashley Lindeman's 8 points were top for the Cougars (2-5), who received 3-pointers from Lindeman, junior Alyssa Rawleigh and sophomore Allie Bauch.
