Three arrested in Villa Park:
Two men and a woman face a variety of drug charges after a search warrant was served late last week on a residence in Villa Park, authorities said Tuesday. Arrested were Lloyd Walls, 25, and Nikea Venson, 34, both of 816 N. Yale in Villa Park, and Johnny Campbell, 35, of 734 N. 8th Ave. in Addison. Police said they recovered more than 100 grams of cannabis at the Yale residence. Walls was charged with possession with intent to deliver cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. Campbell was charged with possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia and already was wanted on a warrant. Both were being held Tuesday in DuPage County jail. Venson was charged with possession of cannabis and has been released from jail.
Police investigate cart theft:
Naperville police are asking residents for information about the Nov. 8 theft of a green and silver Club Car golf cart from the White Eagle Golf Club. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Callers to (630) 420-6006 may remain anonymous.
Vocal Chords win title:
The Village Vocal Chords, a barbershop chorus directed by Winfield resident Jeane O'Connor, won its 17th International Championship in Providence, R.I. Since being chartered with Harmony Inc. in 1961, the Village Vocal Chords has competed in 28 international contests, winning 17 first-place medals, three second-place and three third-place titles. Coyote sightings in Wheaton:
Wheaton police say they've received reports of coyotes being seen in multiple areas, including Delles, Prairie Path, Gables, Lakeside and Wakeman streets. While no problems were experienced in the sightings, police are recommending residents feed pets indoors, clear brush and dense weeds around their properties, use trash barrels equipped with tight-clamping devices on the lids and keep small pets indoors. In addition, don't feed or provide water for coyotes or other wildlife. Anyone observing any wild animal behaving in a threatening manner should call 911.
Naperville offers energy help:
Naperville residents can learn about the city's Home Energy Savings Program during an open house from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the municipal center, 400 S. Eagle St. Live equipment demonstrations will be at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. The program, funded through the U.S. Department of Energy, allows 350 qualified residents to receive a free home energy evaluation and makes them eligible for a 50 percent reimbursement up to $1,500 for qualifying energy improvements. Stop holiday crime:
The Roselle Police Department is sponsoring a Holiday Crime Prevention Workshop at 7 p.m. today at the police station, 103 S. Prospect St. The meeting will cover areas such as the latest prevention measures for identity theft; recent criminal activities in various neighborhoods and ways to prevent crime; the new "CrimeReports.com" Web site, and how citizens can access information about criminal activity in their neighborhood; and how to avoid becoming a victim of illegal credit card use.
