District 158 hosts variety show

Huntley Unit District 158 is hosting its tenth annual variety show at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Huntley High School. The show will feature more than 80 performers from across the district. Tickets are available at the door. They cost $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Huntley High School is at 13719 Harmony Road. Call (815) 923-8810.

Church hosts brunch

The First Congregational Church of Huntley will host its annual Bells' Brunch from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15. The event is a fundraiser for the church's handbell choirs. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. They can be purchased at the church office or at door. The church is at the corner of Main and Church streets. Call (847) 669-3691.

Ask A Lawyer Day

Free legal advice is available on the second Saturday of each month though the Kane County Bar Association's ongoing Ask A Lawyer Day program. National honor for MCC

McHenry County College's traffic safety program recently scored honors from the National Safety Council that named the program a "best practice award winner." The school received the honor for its 2008 defensive driving course training. The award is given to training centers that lead the field in training motorists to be safer.
