District 54 estimates new levy

The Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 school board has approved a resolution estimating its 2009 tax levy at $152 million, exclusive of debt service.

This estimated levy represents a 2.64 percent increase above the 2008 extended levy; a public hearing will be held on the estimated levy at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 in the board room of the district offices, 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

In addition to the published levy for programs and services, the district's aggregate levy will include an amount necessary to pay a portion of the principal and interest on its life safety bonds.

The bond and interest levy will be $8.96 million, a decrease of 2.29 percent from the 2008 extended levy. For details, call Assistant Superintendent of Business Mohsin Dada, (847) 357-5011.
