Class 3A Schaumburg sectional

Where: Busse Woods, Schaumburg

When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m.

Host: Schaumburg

Teams to watch: It starts with Prospect and Palatine. Prospect won the Hoffman Estates regional and also won the Mid-Suburban League title. The Knights are looking to keep their momentum rolling on Saturday. Freshman Brooke Wolfe and senior Annette White pace Prospect, but the Knights have plenty of depth and have shown it with a tight pack. Palatine breezed to it own regional title and will be looking to capture the sectional title on Saturday. Junior Sarah McIntosh and junior Courtney Brown have propelled the Pirates attack. Schaumburg will be in the thick of things. Junior Britten Petrey won the Hoffman regional but has plenty of help with junior Colette Falsey and junior Karen Lesiewicz. Hoffman Estates suffered a blow with Melissa Schmidt out the past two weeks, but the senior is looking to run on Saturday and should have the Hawks on target for a state berth . Sophomore Haley Goers has paced Hoffman the past two weeks. Barrington, Hersey, Fremd, and Libertyville figure to battle for the fifth spot

Individuals to watch:

1. Olivia Jones (Buffalo Grove) - The BG junior won the MSL title and can depend on her kick at the end.

2. Sarah McIntosh (Palatine) - The Pirate junior took first at the Palatine regional and will be looking to continue her momentum on Saturday.

3. Britten Petrey (Schaumburg) - The Saxon junior looked impressive with a first place finish at Hoffman regional.

4. Brooke Wolfe (Prospect) - The Knight freshman was leading the Hoffman regional before falling in the third mile last week.

5. Karen Lesiewicz (Schaumburg) - The Saxon junior may have had her best race of the season at the Hoffman regional.

6. Courtney Brown (Palatine) - The Pirate junior has been very steady and quietly effective.

7. Christina Gastfield (Rolling Meadows) - The Mustang junior can always be found near the lead pack.

8. Salena Clohisy (Hersey) - The Huskie junior has made steady progress and has set herself up for a great finish.

9. Haley Goers ( Hoffman Estates) - The Hawks sophomore has stepped up with Schmidt ailing.

10. Colette Falsey (Schaumburg) - The Saxon junior has had an impressive two weeks and is always hovering near the lead pack.

Class 3A Niles West sectional

Where: Schiller Woods

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

What to watch: Leyden advanced five individual runners out of the Lake Park regional. Senior Marta Korpacz (22nd place) and senior Anna Perkowski (29th place) set the pace for the Eagles.

Class 2A Belvidere sectional

When: Saturday, 11 a.m.

What to watch: St. Viator advanced out of Fenton regional, finishing second. Freshman Hanna Winter led the charge, winning the individual regional title in 19:08. Junior Keegan Griebel and senior Ronnie Mack aided the Lions' charge.
