Scouting Hoffman Estates @ Barrington
Hoffman Estates (0-8, 0-4) at Barrington (2-6, 1-3)
When 7:30 p.m. today at Barrington Community Stadium
Last week Hoffman lost to Fremd 44-10; Barrington lost to Schaumburg 21-9
Outlook Once again Hoffman was much more competitive last week and it hopes QB David Gutierrez (443 yards rushing, 1 TD) and RB Michael Reeves (413 yards, 3 TDs) can duplicate its win at Barrington of two years ago and avoid the fifth winless season in school history and end a 15-game losing streak. "I like our matchup against them and I feel confident we can get it together one last time and try to end on a positive note," said Hoffman coach Bill Helzer, whose team had three first-half trips to the red zone but trailed 16-3 at the break. "For us it's a meaningful game because no one wants to go 0-9. Our kids have had a good week of practice and we want to play mistake-free football." That's also Barrington's goal as it ends its first losing season since 2001 and looks for a big finish from senior QB Terrance Terry (1,234 total yards, 10 TDs). Sophomore RB Chase Murdock (884 yards) also has a shot at 1,000 yards and WR Zack Dulla and lineman Kenny Greer are coming off big games. "Both of us wish we were playing for something more but this game does a lot for how you go into the offseason," said Barrington coach Joe Sanchez. The Broncos lost sophomore OL Dan Voltz (knee) last week and Hoffman gets senior RB Foyin Alade back from injury. The Broncos lead the series 17-3.
