Scouting girls state tennis, Northwest
Girls tennis state tournament preview
What: IHSA girls tennis meet
When: Thursday starting at 9 a.m., Friday starting at 8 a.m., Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
Where: Prospect is the host, matches will be played at each of the Mid-Suburban League schools.
Outlook: Barrington has a chance to capture a team trophy, which is awarded to the top-threeteam finishers. There are also several singles players and doubles teams who could make runs deep into the tournament and achieve individual glory.
In the singles bracket, Barrington's Kristy Dodge earned the fourth overall seed while Schaumburg's Monica Lin was seeded 19th and Buffalo Grove's Nell Boyd was seeded 20th. There is a chance Dodge and Boyd could face each other in the tournament's fourth round.
Barrington's Zoë Kasuriak is in the field, but unseeded.
On the doubles side, Barrington's Meg Crowley and Alli Linden received the No. 1 overall seed. The last four doubles teams to be seeded No. 1 have won the doubles championship.
Buffalo Grove's Ashton and Heather Nisbet earned the No. 11 seed and could face off against Barrington's Dana Pierce and Annie Washburn (seeded 22nd) in the third round.
Rolling Meadows' MaryClare Loughery and Kim Martini are seeded 23rd.
Buffalo Grove's Dana and Lauren Goggin are unseeded, and have a tough first match against Hinsdale Central's Anne Lombardi and Julia Quintero, who are seeded fourth.
Hinsdale Central is looking for its fourth consecutive team title, and with the way the field is seeded it is going to be tough to top them. The Red Devils have the No. 1 (Hanna Mar) and No. 2 (Nida Hamilton) seeded singles players and the No. 2 (Marika Cusik and Kristy Hamilton) and No. 4 (Lombardi and Quintero) seeded doubles teams.
