Scouting Glenbard South @ Rochelle

Western Sun Conference

Game time 7 p.m. today.

Last week Glenbard South 34, Yorkville 14; Rochelle 21, Geneva 14.

Last year Glenbard South 24, Rochelle 12.

Outlook Rochelle did a huge favor for the Raiders by beating Geneva to put Glenbard South in a first-place tie atop the WSC standings. Seeking their fourth straight win, the Raiders aim to move a step closer toward their first conference title since 1977. Last week Glenbard South broke open a 14-7 game at halftime by scoring three third-quarter touchdowns. Quarterback Trace Wanless again led the offense with 188 passing yards and 59 of the team's 216 rushing yards. A key element of the offense has been the evolution of the ground game, a goal accomplished last week when John Hentges rushed for 82 yards. Mike Rovansek, Nick Slezak and Connor Douglas form a potent receiving corps. Standout defensive lineman Austin Teitsma continues to heal from and play through injury and may play some offense this week. The group of linebackers, including Slezak, gets better each week. Brian Duffy and sophomore Nick Boesso combined for 18 tackles against Yorkville. The key against Rochelle is slowing the Wing T running game that churned out 154 yards on 55 carries against Geneva.

Next week Glenbard South at Sycamore; Rochelle at DeKalb.
