Scouting Fox Valley golfers at state
Class 2A state tournament
Where: Hickory Ridge, Carbondale
When: Today and Saturday
Format: Two 18-hole rounds
Fox Valley outlook: Four area players will compete in the Class 2A state finals as individuals. Hampshire junior Taylor Ellett is making her third straight trip to state. She tied for 21st as a freshman in the Class 1A tournament and then tied for 46th at the 2A meet last year. She advanced with an 81 at the Rockford Guilford sectional and will be joined by her sophomore sister Connie, who shot 79 at Rockford to punch her first state ticket. The other area players are teammates on the South Elgin co-op team. Senior Carly Schneider, a Streamwood student, will make her first trip to state as will sophomore Samantha Coyne, a Bartlett student. Schneider shot a 79 at Rockford to advance and Coyne had an 81.

Format: Two 18-hole rounds
Fox Valley outlook: St. Edward heads downstate as a team for the first time since 2006 after winning the Byron sectional championship at Prairieview. The Green Wave are led by seniors Danielle Coffman and Erin Schneider, the sister of Streamwood senior Carly Schneider who will be playing in the Class 2A tournament in Carbondale. Coffman, who won an individual regional championship and tied for the best sectional score, tied for 36th at state last year as an individual. The Green Wave will also be looking for scores from junior Brittania Schreurs, sophomore Carlie Wysocke, junior Kelsey Richmond and sophomore Maddie Wazowicz.
