Teen indicted in shooting that paralyzed student
A grand jury has indicted a 17-year-old from Hanover Park who is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Adolfo Perez-Arreguin, of the 1600 block of Sycamore Avenue, appeared in court on Wednesday. He was charged and arrested on Sept. 9 at Bartlett High School with shooting Jess T. Outlaw, a 17-year-old Streamwood High School student.
The shooting happened on the night of Sept. 6 while Perez was riding his bicycle near McKool and Miller avenues in Streamwood, police said. Outlaw was shot twice.
The victim's mother said Thursday that her son remains paralyzed and can't feel anything from the waist down. Yolanda Outlaw also said a bullet remains in her son's left shoulder.
The victim was with friends shortly before 11 p.m. when the suspect approached on a bike and fired a chrome revolver three times, police said. The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a mask similar to what the villain sported in the "Scream" movies, police said.
Perez will appear in court at 9:30 a.m., Oct. 20 in Room 109 of the Rolling Meadows court house.
