Coffee with Bond:

Residents are invited to join state Sen. Michael Bond of Grayslake for coffee from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at Something's Brewing, 1126 E. Washington St. Bond will be available to discuss recent initiatives, such as fairness and transparency in the property tax assessment process and improving Lake County roads. Rail work scheduled:

The Hawley Street railroad crossing in downtown Mundelein will be closed for repairs starting at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12. The work is expected to take eight days. Village leaders recommend motorists use Route 45 and Route 176 to detour around the work site.

Bowling for dollars:

The Mundelein Police Department will sponsor its fourth annual Scotch Doubles Bowling event to benefit Special Olympics. The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Lakeside Lanes, 900 S. Lake St. Check-in starts at 3 p.m. The cost is $60 per couple, and that includes bowling and dinner. Dinner-only tickets are $25. To register, call Cynthia Peart at (847) 968-3775.
