Scouting Conant @ Barrington

Conant (2-3, 1-0) at Barrington (1-4, 0-1)

When 2 p.m. Saturday at Barrington Community Stadium

Last week Conant d. Hoffman Estates 35-6; Barrington lost to Fremd 35-14

Outlook A lot of running in a must-win game for both school's playoff hopes. "You see them as 1-4 and you're kind of in disbelief, because they seem pretty formidable," said Conant coach Bill Modelski of the running tandem of sophomore Chase Murdock and QB Terrance Terry. "They don't throw it as well as they have in the past but they're still going to come at you. They present us with some problems (on defense) because of their size." Conant is led by area rushing leader Kyle Klosowicz (1,061 yards, 12 TDs) but QB Rico Prestia and WR Garrett Gatz also had success in the passing game. Barrington also faces another big challenge up front as Conant gets junior OL Kenny Kalish (6-4, 340) back after missing last week (shoulder). "We have to keep pounding the rock," said Barrington coach Joe Sanchez. "Nobody is going to feel sorry for us. We just have to go back to work." Barrington has won four straight to lead the series 12-10.
