Fibromyalgia association hosts Fibro Focus

The National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA) and Pfizer chose the Northwest Suburbs to host one of only eight similar events in the country called the Fibro Focus Event Tuesday, Sept. 22. It was held at the Schaumburg Township Building. A presentation about the latest information on diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment options was given by Dr. Jay Joshi, an anesthesiologist and interventional pain management specialist of Hoffman Estates.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness of central nervous system pain sensitization which causes chronic pain and a number of other symptoms and affects over five million people in this country, a majority of which are women.

A monthly support group for Fibromyalgia patients meets from 7-9 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the monty at the Schaumburg Township Building, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. For information, contact (847)-895-9596 or NWSuburbanFibro@gmail.com.
