Huntley hosts memorial run

Huntley is holding its second annual walk and 5K run in honor of former Village Manager Carl Tomaso Saturday Oct. 3. Tomaso died suddenly in 2008. The event starts at Old Village Hall, 11704 Coral St. Registration is at 7:30 a.m.; the walk and race start at 8 a.m. Your $10 entry fee goes to the Carl J. Parents can keep track of the latest news in Community Unit District 300 on the district's Twitter page. Near West Neighbors meet

Elgin's Near West Neighborhood Association will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Cellar Pub at Oak Crest, 204 S. State St. There will be a presentation on the proposed addition to Oak Crest. One other speaker from the city will be in attendance. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend.
