Hanover Twp. offers tutoring for grade schoolers

Hanover Township Youth and Family Services will offer tutoring services to students in grades 2-9 at its offices at 250 S. Route 59, in Bartlett.

Tutoring Services provides weekly, one-hour small-group tutoring sessions. A team of three certified teachers tutors a maximum of 10 students per hour, which officials say will lead to improved academic skills and self-confidence.

Tutoring time slots fill up quickly; early registration is recommended.

The first semester of the program will run Oct. 5 to Jan. 11, 2010 on Mondays or Thursdays, 5, 6 or 7 p.m. The cost is $35 per student per semester for Hanover Township residents.

A parent-student orientation session will be held 6- p.m. Monday, Sept. 28. Attendance by a parent or guardian and the student are required.

Parents are required to remain in the building during their child's session, but other children may come with the parents. Parents will receive weekly progress reports and useful tips from the tutors.

Application forms must be completed by the parent/guardian and the student's teacher. Students must be able to read and work well in a group setting.

For further information, to receive an application, or to register for an orientation session, call Sara Concepción at (630) 483-5799.
