Conant teacher is state finalist

Conant High School teacher Anatasia (Ann) Metaxatos is one of 10 finalists for the Illinois State Board of Education's Illinois Teacher of the Year award, and the only one from the Northwest suburbs. The board received 175 nominations and will announce the winner Oct. 24 in Peoria. Metaxatos teaches English to seniors at Conant, in Hoffman Estates. The Illinois Teacher of the Year will represent the state at NASA Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala., and in the National Teacher of the Year Program sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers and ING.
