Monday's Fox Valley roundup

South Elgin 4, Streamwood 3: The Storm (6-1-1, 2-0) started off strong and held off a late Sabres (4-7-3, 0-2-1) charge to remain undefeated in Upstate Eight Conference play, defeating Streamwood 4-3 Monday.

Bart Mazurek led the Storm offense in the first half with 2 goals on assists from Matt Shipon and Bryan Irwin. David Esquibias also scored on an assist from Devin Crockett to give the Storm what seemed to be a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the half.

Streamwood came out strong in second half play as James Rivera recorded 2 goals and Miguel Juarez scored 1 goal but it was not enough. Mazurek recorded the game-winner, his third goal of the match, off of a feed from Mike Kozeliek to give the Storm the victory. Sabres goalie Edgar Leyva registered 7 saves in the loss.

Westminster Christian 3, Genoa-Kingston 1: The Warriors (6-3-1) took an early 2-1 halftime lead and added an insurance goal in the second half to preserve their 3-1 nonconference victory over Genoa-Kingston on the road.

Josh Beachler started things off for the Warriors scoring off of a feed from J.J. Marshall. Chris Richardson and Mark Graziano also recorded goals off assists from Ishmeal Yemoh and Steve Holflick to secure Westminster Christian's victory. Scott Sutarik had a busy day in goal recording 12 saves.
