Scouting: Cary-Grove @ Woodstock North

Cary-Grove (3-0) at Woodstock North (0-3)

When: today at 7:15 p.m.

Last: first meeting

Last week: Cary-Grove 60, Woodstock 6; Huntley 47, Woodstock North 7

Outlook: Cary-Grove, the No. 3 team in this week's Associated Press Class 6A poll, is off to a superb start. The Trojans have dismantled their first three opponents 147-6. One red flag in demonstrating such dominance, however, is a lack of game day experience for the starting lineup. Cary's starters have been playing little more than a half of football each week because the Trojans have outscored their opponents 98-6 in the first two quarters. "The thing that has us slightly concerned is that our starters haven't really played that much because of the success we've had early in games," Trojans coach Bruce Kay said. "I mean, some guys from the JV team have played more minutes at this point than some of our starters. At some point soon we're going to need them to play a full game." A full game for the starters is not likely in the cards tonight against the Thunder, who are playing their first year of varsity football without seniors in the school. Woodstock North has lost to Grayslake North, Grayslake Central and Huntley by a combined score of 96-13. Cary-Grove senior running back Alex Hembrey has excelled behind a talented offensive line. Through three games the speedster has rushed for 252 yards and 5 touchdowns on 22 carries for a startling average of 11.5 yards per attempt. Senior quarterback Tyler Krebs has rushed 29 times for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns. Last week Krebs unleashed his throwing arm and passed for 231 yards and 5 touchdowns, both career highs.
