Start of year a time to celebrate at Anne Fox School

Teachers at Hanover Park's Anne Fox School hit the streets this week to welcome students and their families back for a new school year.

"Takin' it to the Streets" has become a recent tradition at the Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 school, aimed at emphasizing the family nature of the school community.

Teachers knock on doors in the neighborhood to reacquaint themselves with their students and invite their parents along to Monday's Back to School Family Night.

After the first round of visits Wednesday afternoon, the rest of the school's families will be visited on Sunday afternoon.

Classes themselves will begin with a "Tunnel of Hope" made up of school staff, parents and community members Wednesday morning to welcome back the students.
