District 158 posts budget:
Huntley Unit District 158 has posted its tentative budget for the 2009-10 school year. The budget will be on display for a month, ahead of the school board's scheduled hearing and vote on Sept. 17. The latest budget draft reflects an increase of more than $2 million in state aid the district expects to receive this year. With the infusion of money from the state, the district expects to have a $1.75 million, or 2 percent, operating surplus this year. Despite the revenue bump, the budget does not restore any of the cuts to maintenance and technology that district officials made earlier this year. "We are preparing for the future," Comptroller Mark Altmayer said. "We'd be taking a step backward if we essentially reinstated all the expenditures." You can view the budget at d158.k12.il.us.
