Arlington Heights

• Burglars stole a black bag with cell phone and cosmetics out of an unlocked 2009 Ford Explorer on he 100 block of North Regency Drive between 4 p.m. July 23 and 6 a.m. Jul 24. Value was estimated at $300.

• Burglars stole a set of golf clubs, radar detector, small purse and 10 CDs out of a 2006 Lexus on the 1600 block of North Douglas Court between 10:30 p.m. July 25 and 8:30 a.m. July 26. Value was estimated at $1,420.

• Burglars broke into two vehicles in an apartment lot on the 100 block of North Lincoln Lane between 10 p.m. July 24 and 8:15 a.m. July 25 and stole a GPS valued at $150 out of a 1993 Ford Explorer and a claw hammer and three fishing rods, value estimated at $240, out of a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

• Thieves stole a disabled gold 1997 Mazda 626, not in running condition, from a side lot at Midas, 797 W. Algonquin Road, between July 9 and 23. Inside the car were a CD player valued at $400, GPS valued at $160 and football equipment.

• Burglars stole $50 and a camcorder valued at $250 out of a 1998 Oldsmobile 88 on the 600 block of South Allen Lane between 9 p.m. July 25 and 10:30 a.m. July 26. • Burglars broke into two vehicles in an Arlington Park racetrack lot, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. July 25 and stole a GPS valued at $120 out of a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and a GPS valued at $130 out of a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country van.

• A man tried to push open a window screen at a home on the 1400 block of West St. James around 11:40 p.m. July 25; he fled when the residents saw him. He was described as a white male, 18-20 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and wearing white shorts. Around the same time and in the same neighborhood, someone pushed in a window screen at a home on the 100 block of North Wilke Road, but two St. Bernard dogs frightened the offender away. • Vandals spray painted graffiti with black paint on a exterior wall at State Farm Insurance, 220 E. Northwest Hwy., between 6 p.m. July 22 and 8 a.m. July 24. Damage was estimated at $75.

Buffalo Grove

• A maintenance supervisor reported that a vehicle entered the Arboretum Golf Club, 401 Half Day Road, overnight July 26 from Port Clinton Road and drove over the 12th fairway and green causing damage estimated to be $5,000.

• A vehicle in the 700 Block of Grove Drive was keyed about 12:10 p.m. July 24, leaving a 3-foot scratch. Police interviewed a witness and a suspect and complaint was expected to be signed.

• A 16-year-old female was charged with taking two bottles of vodka from the Dominick's, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road, about 10:10 p.m. July 24.

• Burglaries from vehicles with no signs of forced entry were reported on July 25 for a garage door opener in the 500 block of Burnt Ember Lane; navigation system, digital camera and handicap placard in the 400 block of Burnt Ember Lane; a radar detector, Foot Joy golf shoes and a cellular phone ear piece in the 800 block of Dorncliffe Lane; and two CDs and a pyx used to carry Holy Communion to the sick in the 700 Block of Twisted Oak Lane. Several of the people were sure there vehicles had been locked.

• A burglary to an auto in the 1400 block of Johnson Drive was reported July 24 in which Ping golf clubs, two pairs of sunglasses, a navigation system, a pair of boxing gloves, a tennis racket and assorted CD's and DVD's were taken and there were markings on the window.

• A burglary from an unlocked vehicle in the 700 Block of Essington Lane was reported July 28 in which a Cubs sweatshirt and 36 CDs in a case were taken.

• Someone took an unlocked boys 24" BMX Menico Moto bicycle valued at $269 from the 300 block of Raupp Boulevard between 10 p.m. July 27 and 2:30 p.m. July 28.

Des Plaines

• Kevin R. Mattix, 20, of the 500 block of West Walnut, Des Plaines, was arrested around 8:15 p.m. July 21 at his home and charged with battery after he pinched a 10-year-old girl, possibly on the buttocks, on the 400 block of West Walnut and ran away, police reports said.

• Orlando M. Mazzulla, 45, of the 700 block of Pearson Street, Des Plaines, was arrested around 6:20 p.m. July 24 at the Des Plaines Library, 1501 Ellinwood St., and charged with disorderly conduct, aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest, and criminal damage to state supported property. Officers said they found him at the front entrance, intoxicated, yelling obscenities and trying to punch a man sitting on a bench. He head-butted an officer and kicked a window and door inside a squad car, reports said. His court date is Aug. 7.

• Allen D. Ware, 26, of the 3400 block of Madison Street, Bellwood, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. July 26 after a traffic stop on the 1600 block of South River Road and charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and driving under the influence of alcohol. The officer found hydrocodone and ecstasy pills in the car, reports said. His court date is July 31.

• Tyler D. Bravo, 18, of the 100 block of Belle Plaine Avenue, Park Ridge, was arrested around 8:15 p.m. July 24 after a traffic stop on the 2300 block of South River Road and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His court date is Aug. 27.

• Burglars cut the convertible top on a 2001 Toyota Spider on the 400 block of Waikiki between 5:30 p.m. July 23 and 6:30 a.m. July 24 and stole a laptop computer and backpack. Loss was estimated at $4,000.

Elk Grove Village

• Someone struck a vehicle overnight July 23 or pushed in the rear hatch door of a 2009 Nissan Versa parked in the lot of a hotel in the 1100 block of West Devon, causing $1,000 damage.

• Someone broke the windshield overnight July 24 of a 2000 Chrysler Town & Country minivan parked in the 500 block of Shadywood Lane, causing $500 damage.

• Someone set fire to a slide about 7:20 p.m. July 25 at 300 Elk Grove Blvd. in Audubon Skate Park, causing $300 damage.

• Three cars had windows smashed and radar detectors removed in the early morning of July 27 in parking lots in the 400 and 600 blocks of Perrie Drive. Damage and loss in each case was estimated at $260.

• Two windows on the north side of Mead Junior High School,1765 Biesterfield Road, were broken, possibly with a BB gun and a rock, doing damage of $300.

Mount Prospect

• Patrick Cassanova Jr., 22, of the 1800 of White Chapel, Mount Prospect, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. July 20 at his apartment and charged with production of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers were called to the apartment on a domestic disturbance and found a marijuana pipe on a table, one marijuana plant growing inside a bedroom closet and another plant outside the ground floor patio, reports said. His court date is Aug. 24.

• Burglars broke into a small trailer at a home on the 1800 block of Magnolia Lane between July 16 and 21 and stole a trimmer, chain saw and gas whip. Loss was estimated at $770.

• Thieves stole a green 1996 Acura hatchback on the 1000 block of South Tamarack Drive between July 23 and 24.

• Burglars stole a GPS unit out of two Toyota Sienna vans at two homes on the 0-100 block of Audrey Lane between July 1 and 14. Value was estimated at $450.

Hoffman Estates

• Erik Joseph Sarillo, 17, of the 600 block of Alcoa Lane, was arrested around 7:10 p.m. July 23 at his home and charged with criminal defacement and criminal trespass after police said he spray-painted graffiti on the apartment buildings. His court date is Aug. 25.

• Jorge Villegas Jr., 19, of the 400 block of Lafayette Lane, was arrested around 1:10 a.m. July 24 on the 500 block of Amherst Lane and charged with possession of marijuana and underage consumption of alcohol. He's due in court Sept. 10.

• Burglars stole a cell phone with charger and a GPS unit out of a 2008 Jeep Patriot on the 700 block of Woodlawn Street between 7 p.m. July 23 and 3 p.m. July 24. Value was estimated at $515.

• Thieves stole a laptop valued at $1,200 out of a file cabinet at Sears, 3333 Beverly Road, between July 24 and 27.

Schaumburg

• Eric Battles Jr., 26, of the 6300 block of Michael Lane, Matteson, was arrested around 2 a.m. July 24 on the 1300 block of American Lane and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Sept. 10.

• Burglars broke into a landscape trailer around 9 a.m. July 22 at Schaumburg and Barrington roads and stole trimmers and a blower. Total value was estimated at $1,800.

• Burglars broke into a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder in the Metra depot lot, 2000 S. Springinsguth Road, between 2:15 and 2:40 p.m. July 24 and stole a GPS unit and phone charger. Total loss was estimated at $575.

• Burglars broke into a 2005 Dodge Caravan on the 1900 block of Gary Court between 1:30 and 6:45 a.m. July 23 and stole a GPS valued at $200.

Barrington

• Vandals wrote graffiti on a water tower and control panel between July 24 and 27 at 115 N. Northwest Hwy.

• Vandals wrote gang graffiti on a cafe door in a retail center at 710 W. Northwest Hwy. overnight July 20-21.

• Thieves stole a men's silver bicycle valued at $350 parked unlocked outside a residential garage on the 700 block of Forest Drive between 3 p.m. July 21 and 6 a.m. July 22.

Streamwood

• Israel Garcia, 26, of the 7400 block of East Avenue, was charged July 26 with aggravated DUI, driving without a valid license or insurance, driving in the wrong lane and illegal transportation of alcohol after police said the car he was driving struck another vehicle on the 0-100 block of East Streamwood Boulevard. Following the crash, police said Garcia, who initially gave his name as Alexis Murieta, appeared intoxicated, failed field sobriety tests and admitted he did not have a license. After he was taken to the police station, a fingerprint check revealed his real name and that he was wanted in Carpentersville for failure to appear in court for a separate DUI charge.

• Angel Paris, 27, of the 6900 block of Church Street, Hanover Park, was charged with retail theft July 26 after police said he was observed removing DVDs from their cases and pocketing them at Wal-Mart, 850 S. Barrington Road, and then leaving the store. Police said he also provided a false name to police upon arrest. He's due in court Sept. 3.

• A rear passenger side window on a GMC SUV was shattered, possibly by a BB pellet or similar shot striking the window, as the vehicle was passing near Streamwood High School on July 26. The window shattered on a passenger but she was not injured.

• A 22-year-old Elgin man reported his wallet was missing after he'd placed it on top of his car while pumping gas as BP Amoco at 1236 E. Irving Park Road at about 1:30 p.m. July 26. Police later reviewed surveillance footage showing a man in a pickup truck pumping gas nearby appeared to have taken the wallet and pocketed it. It contained a driver's license, debit and credit cards, a $25 gift card and $200.

• An Elgin woman reported her car was damaged while parked at Priscilla's Soul Food at 1020 S. Barrington Road between 1:30 and 3:15 p.m. July 26. Police said the damage appeared to have been caused by someone sliding an object between the door and door jamb, through the weatherstripping, in an attempt to break in. Nothing was taken.

• Two brothers and their father were charged following an altercation on the grounds of Streamwood Summer Celebration at about 11 p.m. July 25. Police said Patryk Olewinski, 26, of the 0-100 block of Center Road, was charged with assault, simple battery and obstruction of justice. His brother, Sebastian Olewinski, was charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. Their father, Marek Olewinski with obstruction of justice, police said. No ages were given for Sebastian or Marek Olewinski.
