Police host fundraiser:
Huntley police are holding a fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a benefit for Special Olympics Illinois. From 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, police officers will serve as waiters at Culver's, 13240 Route 47. Tip your server for good service; donations will benefit the Torch Run. Harvest market open:
The Downtown Elgin Harvest Market is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 8 at the city hall parking lot, the corner of East Highland and Douglas avenues. Area growers bring fresh, quality vegetables, fruits, flowers, bread, meat, eggs, olive oil and more. Special events are planned for each week as well. Music at the mall
Algonquin Commons is kicking off its free, live concert series on Sunday, July 12. The series, which features a full range of music that includes classic rock and reggae, runs from 5 to 7 p.m. every Sunday, concluding Aug. 9.
