Tikkun Olam: Congregation Tikkun Olam will join the Shalom Group for a Shabbat service at 7 p.m. Friday, June 26. The service will be held in the outdoor pavilion at Del Webb, off Route 47 in Huntley. This joint service will be in place of the usual fourth Friday service at the Congregational Unitarian Church in Woodstock. The next Shabbat service in Woodstock will be July 24. Congregation Tikkun Olam is the only Jewish Reform congregation in the greater McHenry County area. Unaffiliated Jews and interfaith families are always welcome. First Congregational: On Sunday, June 28, the Rev. Michelle McNamara's sermon will be "A Fire Where We Don't Expect It," based on the creation text in Genesis, at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main St. in Huntley. Bill Hoffman will sing a solo in both services. The Sunday school children, after attending the first part of the 9 a.m. service, will watch a video. On Wednesday, Clickin Sticks, the knit/crochet group, will meet at 1 p.m. On Saturday, June 27, there will be a Men's Fellowship Breakfast at 8 a.m. and the Emergent Worship Service at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. St. John Lutheran: This weekend, the Rev. William Stroup will deliver the message, "I Believe in Jesus Christ", based on Mark 5:21-43, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St., Algonquin. Adult Bible class Sunday at 8 a.m. A supervised nursery is offered at the 9 a.m. service; no Sunday school for the summer. Evy's Cafe will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of the month Monday evening worship will begin on July 6. This is in addition to the weekend services. All are welcome. The Mission Resale Shop, located on Washington Street, is open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gifts and good quality used clothing, and small household items can be purchased at reasonable prices. Shepherd of the Prairie: On Sundays, the Rev. Mark Boster will preach at both services at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church. The 9 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary services are held at the Cosman Cultural Center, 12051 Mill St., Huntley. Holy Communion will be celebrated at each service. Nursery care is available at both services. Sunday school will resume Sept. 20 in the new church building. The vacation Bible school's Family celebration night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at Stingray Bay. The Tuesday Book Club will meet at noon Tuesdays, through July 7. Faith Community: On Sunday, June 28, the Rev. Bruce Cole's sermon will be part one of "God is: Love" at the blended service at 9 a.m. and contemporary service at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Community Church, 10547 Faiths Way in Huntley. Holy Communion will be celebrated. Nursery for children up to age 3 is available at both services as well as Sunday school for children from age 4 through middle school. Alcoholics Anonymous holds a weekly closed meeting at noon Sundays and 7:30 p.m. Mondays. On Tuesdays, TOPS meets at 11:30 a.m. Adult Bible studies are offered at 9 a.m. Wednesdays to discuss the scripture of the upcoming sermon; and again at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Unitarian church: On Sunday, June 28, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Woodstock will have a "Barn Service at the Tinklers" at 10:45 a.m. at 11314 McConnell Road in Woodstock. The theme this year is "Journey's." They will be reflecting on and talking about some of the journeys we have taken in our lives. Bring a flower for the Flower Wheel and a dish to pass for the potluck immediately after the service. The church will not have services on the Fourth of July holiday weekend. McHenry County Church of Religious Science: The Rev. Anne S. Muelleman wraps up her series on the best-selling spiritual classic, Don Miguel Ruiz' "The Four Agreements" at 10 a.m. at the Center for Spiritual Evolution, McHenry County Church of Religious Science. The book imparts a code of conduct based on Toltec wisdom that rapidly transforms life into a new experience of freedom, happiness and love. On Sunday, June 281, the topic will be "Always Do Your Best." The special music will be by Tricia Alexander.
