Lions to offer hearing tests in Hanover Park

The Hanover Park Lions Club will offer free hearing screenings from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Living Christ Lutheran Church, Greenbrook Boulevard and Arlington Drive, Hanover Park.

Testing is for persons 18 years of age and older; testing is also available for youngsters 10-17 but requires written parental consent. No pre-registration is required; the event is free and open to all community residents. For information, contact Linda, (630) 254 8080.

Schaumburg Township holding fundraiser for needy

The Schaumburg Township Human Services Fund is holding a fundraiser to help support Schaumburg Township services at the Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, Ind., Monday, June 29.

The bus departs Schaumburg Township at 9:30 a.m. The cost for the fundraiser to the Ameristar Casino is $25, which includes round trip transportation, five hours of gaming action and an all-you-can-eat buffet. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Schaumburg Township Human Services Fund's goal is to improve the quality of life for disabled, senior, youth and disadvantaged residents of Schaumburg Township, including those in need of mental health treatment, by enhancing, supplementing and expanding the charitable and educational services and programs of Schaumburg Township through developing resources and providing opportunities for community involvement.

Prospect Heights Summerfest 2009 is Saturday

Prospect Heights Summerfest will be held at Lions Park on Saturday, June 27. The one-day celebration will be located on Elm Street and the north side of the Gary Morava Center.

The day starts with the Lions Club pancake breakfast and baseball. The afternoon will include a carnival, food vendors, beer garden, silent auction, dunk tank, dance performance, free pool swim and water games.

A 5K/10K Run and Kid's one-mile Run will kick off a fun filled evening including live bands the "Postadelics" and "Fairlanes."

Elm Street will be closed between Camp McDonald Road and the library entrance on Friday morning and will be open to through traffic on Sunday afternoon. Parking is available at Lions Park, Old Orchard Golf Course's south parking lot, and Eisenhower and Ross/Sullivan Schools.
