McHenry Co. Women in Management presents scholarships
The Women in Management McHenry County Chapter has awarded college scholarships for $1,000 each to three local women. The scholarships were presented at WIM's annual Legacy Luncheon June 11 at the Boulder Ridge Country Club in Lake in the Hills.
Cassandra Myers is the recipient of the WIM Graduating Senior Scholarship. A 2009 graduate of Huntley High School, Cassandra is class valedictorian, speech team captain, student journalist and a member of the National Honor Society.
She has twice been a finalist in the Illinois High School Association state journalism competition. Cassandra will study forensic criminal investigation at Lewis University in Romeoville.
The WIM Challenge Scholarship is awarded to Tara Saunders, a 2009 graduate of McHenry East High School. In addition to being an outstanding student, Tara has also worked part-time to help her family financially following the tragic loss of her father. She is a member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society and art club. She will study art history and education at Illinois State University in Normal.
Marcy Field of Harvard has been awarded WIM's Continuing Education Scholarship. She is a student at McHenry County College in a collaborative program with the Citi College of Allied Health. She is pursuing a certification to perform sonograms. Field is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago and is an active volunteer with Willow Creek Community Church.
Women in Management is a support organization for professional women. Its mission is to facilitate the exchange of experience and ideas to promote professional and personal growth. Since its founding, the McHenry County chapter has awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships.
