Elgin Academy names Vogt new coach

After a nationwide search, Elgin Academy has announced the appointment of David Vogt as the new boys varsity basketball coach.

Vogt is the assistant athletic director at Elgin Academy where he has coached middle school and junior varsity basketball and upper school cross country and track and field.

Vogt attended Beloit College and majored in Political Science, where he was a three year starter at point guard and a team captain. He later went on to pursue his Masters Degree in Sports Administration. Vogt played professional basketball for two seasons in Hungary and has a total of five years coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels.

"I'm thankful and excited for the opportunity to further contribute to the athletic program at Elgin Academy," said Vogt. "My love of coaching, coupled with my passion for the game and my coaching experience at Elgin Academy, will make for a natural transition into the position of boys varsity basketball coach."
