Class 4A St. Charles North sectional

No. 1 Wheaton North (28-5) vs. No. 3 Batavia (29-6)

When: 10 a.m. today

What to watch: Batavia looks to go where only its 2004 Elite Eight team has been with a win today. The Bulldogs will have to be careful with a strong Wheaton North lineup. An injury has sidelined Trey Martin from pitching, but he still has 10 home runs. Jack DeAno, the likely starting pitcher Saturday, has 8 homers and Jeff Schalk 6 as the Falcons have a powerful middle of the order that Batavia matches with Tim Drish, Brian Krolikowski and Jordan Coffey. With so much talent on either side, the game could come down to which team makes the fewest mistakes and which team does the little things well - move runners over, puts down the sacrifice bunts, throws strikes. Batavia has been doing all of those well ever since its 1-4 start.

Advancement: Winner plays winner of DeKalb sectional (Cary-Grove or Larkin) at 5 p.m. Monday in the Rockford supersectional at RiverHawks stadium.
