Dundee-Crown to sponsor community garage sale

Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville presents "A Community Cares" garage sale and festival from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 13.

The Dundee-Crown High School SAFE (Students Assisting with Family Emergencies) Committee, sponsored by Beta Club, recently announced the 2009 "A Community Cares" garage sale/festival.

"A Community Cares" is inspired by the plight of the Diaz family, whose 6-year-old daughter Cindy is battling leukemia. This fundraising event is being held to help support this family in their time of extreme need.

Additionally, any other Community Unit District 300 children in a medical crisis and their families may also benefit if their situation is made known to the club through a school administrator.

District 300 clubs, activities, parent groups, etc. will be providing booths of items for sale, games, raffles and fun. Proceeds from these booths will benefit the families. Advertising for the event is planned through news media, including local papers and radio stations and placement of fliers and signs at all district schools and at many retailers in the area.

Participants from the community are invited to purchase space at Dundee-Crown High School to join in the festivities and sell new/used items or crafts. Space is available outdoors in the high school parking lot. The cost is $10 for two parking spaces. Proceeds from the space fee will benefit the families.

Sellers will need to provide their own tables, chairs and canopy (if desired). The sale will take place rain or shine. No refunds will be given due to weather or cancellation. The deadline is Monday, June 1.

For details or an application or to volunteer, call Judy Gard, Beta Club sponsor, at (224) 484-5046 or Delia Rodriguez, Dundee-Crown dean of students, at (224) 484-5035.
