Tryon amends state aid bill:
State Rep. Mike Tryon, a Crystal Lake Republican, has amended a bill that aims to fix an issue costing Huntley Unit District 158 more than $2 million in lost state aid each year. The amendment would only allow school districts to get reimbursed for state aid lost in the 2009-10 school year. Tryon amended the bill in hopes of appeasing the Illinois State Board of Education, which has opposed the bill, and the House Democratic leadership, which has not called the bill for a vote even though it passed the Senate and a House committee without a single "no" vote. The amendment has been referred to the House Rules Committee.

"... We have long operated as the Elgin Area Chamber because of the extensive geographical coverage of our members." The change begins immediately.
