Flush it out

Cary's annual hydrant flushing program is under way and is expected to last for two weeks, depending on the weather. Workers will flush hydrants north of Route 14 first. There are 1,000 hydrants in the village. Flushing takes place between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and during that time, your tap water may turn brown. The village encourages residents to take precautions when washing clothes and to let the water run until it clears. For details, call the public works department at (847) 639-0003.

The technical competition tests heating, ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration, business, nursing, education and automotive students. All 18 ECC students who competed returned with honors - 13 with medals and six with ribbons.
