Elgin police to hold accreditation hearing:
A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. will arrive on Sunday, May 10, to examine all aspects of the Elgin Police Department's policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services. As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on at 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, in the council chambers located at City Hall, 150 Dexter Court. If you can't make it there, you can still provide comments by telephone by calling (847) 289-2673 between 1 and 3 p.m. Monday. Telephone and in-person comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the Elgin department's ability to comply with commission standards. A copy of the accreditation standards is available at the Elgin Police Department by calling Sgt. Tamara Welter at (847) 289-2514. Huntley hosts gardening event:
Huntley's Farmers Market is hosting Plant Your Garden Day from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today on Coral Street and around the square in downtown Huntley.
