Batavia citywide garage sale:
The Batavia Fireworks Committee's citywide garage sale is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Saturday. Fees from participating sellers support the July 4 show. Maps of the sales are available at the Batavia Citgo (27 N. Batavia Ave.), the 7-Eleven (336 E. Wilson St.), the BP station (200 N. Randall Road), the Batavia Government Center (100 N. Grammy winner to perform:
Come listen to the eclectic music of the Turtle Island Quartet at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Wheaton Academy, 900 Prince Crossing Road, West Chicago. You'll hear chamber, jazz, folk, rock and world music in this fusion of the classical quartet aesthetic with contemporary American musical styles. Food drive at show:
The Empty Can Band will perform an acoustic show at 9 p.m. Saturday at O'Brien's Pub & Grill, 12 N. River St. in Batavia. Food will be collected for the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, a ministry of Hesed House.
Mother's Day brunch
Heritage Prairie Farm and Market on Brundige Road in Elburn has a Mother's Day breakfast at 10 a.m. Sunday. The menu includes tarts, quiches, homemade granola, yogurt and fruit, served with mimosas and Wind Up Coffee, or Crystal Ball Chocolate Milk for the kids. Japanese Garden open:
The Japanese Garden at Fabyan Villa Museum will be open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, then 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays May 17 through October. The Fabyan Villa Museum and Japanese Garden are owned by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County and operated by Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley.
