Froehlich's brother in trouble over bus use
The controversy surrounding state Rep. Paul Froehlich has also touched his brother, David, the athletic director at Rolling Meadows High School, who used a high school bus to help move furniture from Froehlich's legislative office in Schaumburg last year.
Paul Froehlich conceded Thursday that a mistake was probably made and that his brother will fully reimburse Northwest Suburban High School District 214 for the use of the bus.
But Paul Froehlich said he himself never expected a school bus to show up at his office, as useful as it proved in carrying some long tables.
"My brother has a van and when I have some furniture to move, I impose on him," Paul Froehlich said.
As it turned out, David Froehlich was using the bus that day in his capacity as athletic director and brought it with him to his brother's office.
District 214 spokeswoman Venetia Miles said district policy states that no personal business is permitted with district vehicles. The current issue has served as a reminder to employees that vehicles paid for with tax dollars are for district use only, she said.
Miles said David Froehlich has been or will be disciplined for the violation.
David Froehlich could not be reached for comment Thursday.
