Rabid bats found in McHenry:

The McHenry County Department of Health on Thursday reported two more rabid bats, bringing the total for 2009 to three. One bats was found in Fox River Grove on April 29; the other was found in Woodstock on May 4. No one was bitten by either bat. McHenry County had the highest number of rabid bats in the state last year, with 23 out a state total of 103. Anyone who finds a bat should call the health department at (815) 459-6222.

Park named for Tomaso:

The Huntley Park District will honor the late Huntley Village Manager Carl Tomaso by naming a park in his honor. Carl Tomaso Sports Park will be at Ackman Road and Founders Field Boulevard in the Talamore subdivision in northwest Huntley. The park district will dedicate the 38-acre park, which includes baseball diamonds and fields, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. Call (847) 669-3180 ext. 350.
