ECC Vocal Jazz Ensemble concert
The Elgin Community College Vocal Jazz Ensemble celebrates the season in "It Might as Well Be Spring!," a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at the ECC Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Tickets: $9 adults; $7 students/seniors. Free parking in lots 11 and 12.
The concert is led by director and ECC music professor John G. Slawson. Tickets are now available at www.tickets.elgin.edu or at the ECC box office in the Arts Center. Hours are noon-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday; noon-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. (847)-622-0300.
SuperSibs! event all about Mom's Day
SuperSibs!, the Northwest suburban-based organization dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families, will hold a fundraiser from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Westin Chicago North Shore, 601 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling. "A Tribute To Our Quiet Heroes" luncheon and silent auction will raise money to help SuperSibs! continue supporting more than 17,000 brothers and sisters of children with cancer nationwide. Last year's event raised $85,000 and drew more than 200 guests.
Registrations are still available. Tickets are $100, which includes admission, cocktail reception, gourmet luncheon and inspirational program. Quiet Hero mothers attend free as special honored guests.
The guest speaker is award winning documentary film producer, Justin Rubin, who recently gained national recognition for the production of "No Next," which won a Stand Up 2 Cancer top award. NBC 5's Zoraida Sambolin is mistress of ceremonies.
Schaumburg Twp. youth panel to meet
The next Schaumburg Township Committee on Youth meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Schaumburg Township Town Hall, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. The committee meeting includes a session of the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition for the area. The public is welcome. (847) 884-0030.
