Mourning babies:

Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice has a memorial walk for families grieving the death of infants at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd., Elgin. All family members and friends who have been affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or infant losses are invited. Participants are encouraged to bring small memorial items such as pictures, clothing or letters to be placed in an infant-sized casket, which will be buried at the end of the service. Arts and music at Burlington-Central:

The Burlington-Central High School Fine Arts Department is presenting a Fine Art Extravaganza on Friday, May 1. There will be a reception from 6:30 to 7 p.m. to meet the student artists and an open gallery showing from 7 to 8:30. The Central High School Jazz Lab Band will perform during the reception and the String Club will perform during the open gallery. Along with music, the writers club will showcase poets on a special stage at 7:15. Original artwork will be auctioned off as a fundraiser for the art club.
