'Dads' photo contest deadline is Monday

The deadline is Monday, April 27 to submit photographs to the Northwest Cultural Council's 2009 fifth annual international juried photography exhibition, "Pop Shots - Images Celebrating Dads." All forms of photography and digital imagery will be accepted. There is a $25 jury fee for up to three slides. High school and college students are free. Keller fashion show a student-run affair

Keller Junior High in Schaumburg is hosting a fashion show on Thursday, April 30, to showing off the unique designs of eighth grader Erin Corcoran and to raise money for the World Wildlife Federation.

The show will be held during all four lunch periods, two shows per period for a total of eight shows. Times are 9:57 a.m., 10:17 a.m., 10:40 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:23 a.m., 11:43 a.m., 12:06 p.m. and 12:26 p.m.

A $1 donation is requested for the WWF, whose mission is nature conservation and protecting areas and wild populations of plants and animals; including endangered species.

Erin Corcoran has 11 designs to show off on her Wildcat models: Nana Akeda; Karyn Baldwin; Abby Barthel; Klaudia Bugajska; Jackie Huey; Colleen Little; Nicole Loch; Rajesvari Paskanthi; Alyssa Peterson; Alexa Tapias and Riley Williams. The technical crew is Mae Catic, Christine Lee, Robyn McKeown, Kruti Patel, Mohini Patel, Neelem Patel and Annie Witt. The show is directed by Rehana Ghani, a social studies teacher and formerly a fashion coordinator.

Two hairstylists, Gustavo and Patricia, from the Hair Cuttery of Schaumburg, have volunteered to do the models' hair. Makeup artists Amy Williams (manager) and Jillian Erickson (artist) from C.O. Bigalow at Woodfield Mall have volunteered to do their makeup.
