DuPage County briefs
Dist. 203 administrator:
Tim Wierenga, assistant principal at Naperville North High School, has been tapped to serve as associate superintendent for instruction for Naperville Unit District 203. Wierenga will replace Jodi Wirt, who has taken a position with Lake Zurich Unit District 95.
Web aids GAR restoration:
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has established a secure Web site where donations can be made to help with the restoration of the Grand Army of the Republic memorial at 23 E. Downer Place, Aurora. The donations will help defray the cost of recasting the Civil War soldier that has stood guard over the building for more than 130 years, as well as assist with interior rehabilitation. The link may be found on the city's Web site at www.aurora-il.org.
Park rolls out new maps:
Anyone wanting to explore Fox Valley Park District's 150 parks or fish in its lakes has new tools to help them find where they want to go. The district's Summer Activity Guide for Adults that becomes available this week includes a full-color park directory illustrating locations of every park throughout Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery. Anglers also may obtain new printable lake maps online at the district's Web site at foxvalleyparkdistrict.org. On May 1, an all-encompassing, interactive map will be unveiled on the Web site.
