Naperville street closings:

Several Naperville streets will be closed Sunday, April 19, during the NCO Youth and Family Services Spring Ahead 5K and 10K Run. The street closures will be in effect from about 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Temporary closures include Ferry Road from City Gate to Raymond Drive (eastbound curb lane closure only), Raymond Drive from Ferry Road to Diehl Road (southbound curb lane closure only), Raymond Drive from Diehl Road to McDowell Road, Diehl Road from Raymond Drive to Wall Street and Westings Road from Route 59 to Comfort Drive. Railroad crossing to close:

The Union Pacific Railroad crossing at Finley Road in Lombard will be closed for repairs beginning Monday, April 20. The detour route will be St. Charles Road and Maple Street for east-west traffic and Elizabeth Street for north-south traffic. The crossing is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. Thursday, April 23. Train station to get bike shelter:

Construction of a new covered bicycle shelter at Naperville's downtown Metra station is slated to begin the week of April 27. The new shelter, which is set for completion in late June, will add about 52 new bicycle parking spaces to the existing 155 spaces. It will be located on the east side of the north platform. The Route 59 Metra station also will receive a new bicycle shelter this summer, which will add roughly 46 new bicycle parking spaces to the existing 67 spaces. Construction is slated to begin in late May and be completed by late July. It will be located to the east side of the existing bicycle shelter parking.

Addison Trail Walkathon:

Students from the Addison Trail High School Choir will host their annual Walkathon at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Addison Trail Stadium, 213 N. Lombard Road, Addison. Participants can walk around the track, listen to music, try food donated by local businesses and purchase raffle tickets. The choir students have been collecting pledges and the money will benefit the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital as well as the Addison Trail Choir Department. The fundraising goal for this year is $1,000 and donations will also be accepted on the day of the event. For details or to make a donation, call Drew Dahan at (630) 628-3360.
