Lozier named new Streamwood High principal
A new principal was named to Streamwood High School Tuesday afternoon.
Terri Lozier, currently the Principal at Nature Ridge Elementary in Bartlett, will replace outgoing Streamwood Principal Oscar Hawthorne next fall.
Lozier started her career as a health occupations teacher at Streamwood in 1992 after several years of working as a trauma nurse in the Elgin area. In 2004, Lozier became the division chair for math and science at the school. In 2005, she was selected as principal at Nature Ridge.
"I began my teaching experience at Streamwood High School and was there for 13 years, so I feel like I'm returning home," Lozier said in a news release.
One of her primary goals, she said, is engaging the community on how to raise academic achievement for all students at the high school.
Lozier will receive her doctorate in education from National Louis University in June 2011. She holds a master's in educational leadership from Aurora University and a bachelor's from Rush University in Chicago. A community forum to introduce Lozier has been scheduled for 6 p.m. April 23 at the Streamwood High School library, 701 W. Schaumburg Road.
