ECC lauded for Spartan Drive extension:

Elgin Community College is a co-recipient of the Project of the Year from the American Public Works Association's Chicago Metropolitan Chapter for the Spartan Drive extension project. ECC, along with the City of Elgin and project engineer Crawford, Murphy and Tilly Inc., received the award March 19. The 0.62-mile extension, which consists of two lanes and a bicycle trail, opened to traffic Aug. 15 and connects the ECC main campus with Randall Road. The City of Elgin shared the funding for the project. Planning began in 1998.

School hosts musical:

The Dundee-Crown High School music department is bringing the Elton John and Tim Rice musical "Aida" to the stage this month. The Carpentersville high school will host performances of the musical, based on the Verdi opera of the same name, at 7 p.m. on April 16, 17 and 19. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Dundee-Crown main office and at the door. Call (224) 484-5250.
