Elgin plans egg hunt:
The city of Elgin will host this year's Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way. The event will kick off at 9 a.m. in the Hemmens' lower level with breakfast with the Easter Bunny. The cost is $9 for children and $5 for adults for Elgin residents and $12 for kids and $8 for adults for non-residents. Advanced registration is required by calling (847) 531-7056. The egg hunt outside the Hemmens is free and participants should bring their own baskets. If the weather is bad, the hunt will be held inside the Hemmens. After the hunt, a Radio Disney road crew will host an hour of music, games and prizes.
Union honors teachers:
The Huntley Education Association, the teachers union in Huntley Unit District 158, named its teachers of the month for March. Bonnie Smith, a kindergarten teacher at Chesak Elementary School, is teacher of the month from the Reed Road campus. Lise Rosendahl, a special education teacher at Huntley High School, is teacher of the month for the Harmony Road campus. Monica Dase, an art teacher at Heineman Middle School, is teacher of the month for the Square Barn Road campus.
Algonquin Township GOP scholarships:
The Algonquin Township Republicans will award two $500 scholarships to winning applicants who live in Algonquin Township, are a graduating high school senior, have been accepted to a college, university or vocational/technical school, complete and sign an application form that includes answering essay questions by April 30.
